U Street DC

So Saturday it was sunny and in the 70's... Sunday it's rainy in the 60's... at least we had one nice weekend day. After church today (and after brunch with a friend) I took a stroll down the famous U Street in the Shaw area of DC. U Street is a great story about how neighborhoods can rise from the ashes and become as what the NY Times said in 2006 "Cool Again" The history is too long to write but if you are interested here's the link to that article. http://travel2.nytimes.com/2006/04/14/travel/escapes/14washi.html
The two pictures shot today are of the famous hot dog place Ben's Chili Bowl (now also open at the New Nats Stadium) and the African American Civil War Memorial dedicated 10 years ago this July.
