Chincoteague Summer Vacation

Chincoteague Island, VA is located about 3 1/2 hours from Washington D.C. on the VA Eastern shore.  The weather was great the four days I was there, and I enjoyed with my brother and his family a number of great sunsets!

Knights of Columbus Museum, New Haven CT

The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic fraternal organization and named in honor of Christopher Columbus.   Yesterday I visited it's museum in downtown New Haven (Connecticut) which has a number of rooms devoted to it's history as an organization.  It also has exhibit of paintings of Mary, the mother of Jesus, on loan from the Vatican.

And there's a Columbus gallery...

this is a painting of the Knight's founder Venerable Father Michael McGrivney. He was a parish priest from Connecticut.   Someday he maybe a saint.  From wikipeda.com... In 2010, the cause for Father McGivney's canonization was before the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. A guild had been formed to promote his cause. On March 15, 2008, Pope Benedict XVI approved a decree recognizing the heroic virtue of Father Michael J. McGivney, founder of the Knights of Columbus. The pope's declaration significantly advances the priest's process toward sainthood, and gives the parish priest the distinction of "Venerable Servant of God." If the cause is successful, he will be the first priest born in the United States to be canonized as a Saint.

Waterfire 2011, Providence RI

Waterfire Providence is an awesome event that takes places each summer in downtown Providence, Rhode Island.   After sunset, they light the fires along the canal.   There are lots of food and drink vendors and other entertainment in addition to watching the fires burn (which they do until midnight).   For schedule for upcoming watefires checkout their web site:  http://www.waterfire.org/

Legg Mason Tennis Tournament, Rock Creek Park, DC

It's happy hour at Tennis Center.   If you rather watch the match on tv, instead of going inside to the Stadium Court.

2002 James Blake won....

Unknown (to me) player cooling off after a match on a outer court.  Temps were the 90's this afternoon!

Jame Blake in action, he won 6-2, 6-4
