Road Trip to Frederickburg, VA

Temperatures were in the mid 50's today, which was perfect weather for a little road trip. About an hour outside of Washington DC, Fredericksburg VA has a nice downtown with a mix of historic building and quaint little shops. This painting on Caroline Street was entitled "the warmth of Fredericksburg" and summed up the feeling I had today walking around this historic southern city.

This a bust of James Monroe, the 5th president of President, who practiced law and was born in nearby Westmoreland County, VA. The James Monroe museum has many artifacts from his White House days.

This church dates back to 1720...

This tree was a bird houses was in a cemetery next to the above church.

I also visited the Masonic Cemetery which dates back to early 1700's. Check out my cemetery project blog @ www.51cemeteriesproject.blogspot.com
And tomorrow check back to see a very cool Monument dedicated to a local Fredericksburg hero from the civil war.
