NYC Day 3: Governors Island & Coney Island

Day 3 (Saturday) was spent visiting Governors Island (a 10 minute ferry ride from Manhattan) and Coney Island (a 40 plus minute subway ride from Manhattan.) I enjoyed Governors Island a lot more than Coney Island!

There was a "Jazz Age Lawn Party" going on this weekend... You had to pay 10 dollars at the door to get on the lawn, but everyone was able to watch from outside the fence.

New York City: Day 2, East Village

New York City: Day 2 Grace Church @ Union Square

Grace Church is Gothic Revival Episcopal Church found in the late 1800's. While the church wasn't open this Friday afternoon, the birds were hanging out at this very historic church near Union Square.

NYC Gehry Buildings

In my travels on Thursday, I made sure to visit and photograph two buildings designed by one of the most (if the they most) famous living architect, Frank Gehry. Think Guggenheim Museum in Biblio Spain Or Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. The first two photographs are of the IAC Building (which is Barry Diller's company) located near Chelsea Pier and the Hudson River.

The next two photographs are a "work in progress" the Beekman Tower when finished will be New York Citys tallest residential tower. It's located a couple of blocks from ground zero and City Hall. In addition to apartments, it will house a public school, a medical center and a foot facility.

New York City: Day 1

I'm spending a few days in one of my favorite cities... New York. Today I spent the morning in Brooklyn shooting for my Cemetery Project, and then in the afternoon thanks to a great subway system went from Union Square (where I am staying) to Chelsea Pier to City Hall and back to Union Square. This first photo is a Marina next to Chelsea Pier.

I wish I had my golf clubs, this is a four decker driving range in Chelsea Pier

The the next three are from Union Square (my home away from home for the next few days)

Later tonight or tomorrow I will post two buildings designed my favorite architect Frank Gehry.
